Concretions in the Valtos Sandstone These bizarre ball-shaped structures arise from cementing of the friable sandstone by calcite in solution. The overlying beds of sandstone, seen in the right of the picture, are more completely cemented, making them harder to erode. It is widely held that the beautiful, white sand of the beaches in this area of the Highlands and Islands are due in part to the erosion of these very clean sandstones.

EiggEigg je po ostrově Rùm v pořadí druhým největším ostrovem ze skupiny Small Isles v Hebridském moři ve skotském souostroví Vnitřní Hebridy. Z politicko-administrativního hlediska je Eigg součástí skotské správní oblasti Highland.
