Schematic of a 1A current regulator using LM317 adjustable voltage regulator. The open-circuit voltage assumes the output stage of the LM317 saturates at approximately 0.2 V and the adjust pin sinks enough current so that the voltage drop across the 1.25 ohm resistor is 1.25 V, which corresponds to the approximate temperature-compensated bandgap of silicon.
