Užhorod je město, do roku 2020 oblastního významu, na západní Ukrajině na řece Uh, přímo u hranice se Slovenskem. Je hlavním a největším městem Zakarpatské oblasti a okolního Užhorodského rajónu. V roce 2006 mělo město 116 000 obyvatel, v roce 2022 přibližně 115 tisíc obyvatel; je tedy nejen nejzápadnější, ale také nejmenší oblastní metropolí na Ukrajině. Město má dobře rozvinutý průmysl, zastoupený je zejména dřevozpracující, nábytkářský, strojírenský, chemický a potravinářský. Kultura a školství má ve městě bohatou tradici. Nachází se zde několik muzeí, divadlo a od roku 1945 i Užhorodská národní univerzita. Je zde centrum Užhorodské městské komunity a sídlo Eparchie mukačevské. .. pokračovat ve čtení
